My physio recommended that I watch "Limitless with Chris Hemsworth" on Disney Plus (National Geographic), which I've been really enjoying (even beyond the fact that Chris is shirtless in pretty much every episode).
I've just watched episode 5 on Memory and it talks a lot about the impact of dance on brain function.
I would love to share some of the insights from this episode:
I've just watched episode 5 on Memory and it talks a lot about the impact of dance on brain function.
I would love to share some of the insights from this episode:
- Regular exercise in mid life can reduce our chances of getting Alzheimer's Disease by almost 50%.
- Exercise combined wth a cognitive challenge is proving to be an extremely powerful tool in the fight against dementia.
- Dancing is a better way to improve brain function (than exercise with repetitive movement) because it combines cognitive and physical challenges. Perhaps, dancing will be able to prevent cases of dementia in the future!
- Scientists have discovered that our brains have the capacity to grow and develop new connections even in late adulthood. So, that old saying that "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" has now proven to be RUBBISH!
I highly recommend the six episodes - especially the final episode on Acceptance, which is powerfully profound. Prepare to get deep!
