Active & Healthy Class Updates for 2023/2024

UPDATE FROM OLGA: There are some CHANGES to my Active and Healthy class schedule for the NEXT financial year (July 2023 to June 2024). 

As many of you know, I have sustained knee (and shoulder) injuries. The number of Zumba Gold classes I'm currently doing is putting too much load on my body. After speaking with my coach and my physio, I have chosen to cut back on my Active and Healthy classes for the 2023/2024 financial year. 

Please note that my decision to cut back my classes was not prompted by Brisbane City Council in any way. Council did offer to extend my current class schedule for the 2023/2024 schedule, with the exception of Paddington. I made the personal decision to listen to my body's needs and cutting back on my Zumba Gold classes was what was needed at this time. 

OLGA'S CLASS SCHEDULE FROM JULY 2023...

I will be teaching the Zumba Gold Fitness classes listed below. All classes are funded by Brisbane City Council under Council's Active & Healthy Program. My classes run from Wednesday 12 July 2023 to Friday 7 June 2024 (with no classes on school holidays or public holidays).

• Bulimba - Fridays 5:30pm at Bulimba Community Centre
• Manly - Thursdays 9:30am at Drevesen Park
• Norman Park - Fridays 9:30am at Pattison Avenue Park
• Sunnybank - Wednesdays 5:30pm at Sunnybank Community Centre
  • This new Sunnybank class replaces the Saturday 8:00am class at Les Atkinson Park, which kicked off in February 2020 and finished in June 2023.

ANOTHER INSTRUCTOR WILL TAKE OVER THIS CLASS...

• RICHLANDS - Tuesdays 11:30am at CJ Greenfield Hall:
  • Olga's final Zumba Gold Richlands class was on Tuesday 6 June 2023. ​
  • The Active & Healthy Team have sourced a replacement instructor, Jessie Randall, who is taking over the Zumba Gold Richlands class from 11 July 2023. You can book your spot on her website here or search for this event on Council's Active & Healthy Events webpage here.

CLASSES DISCONTINUED FOR 2023/2024:

• ACACIA RIDGE - Saturdays 9:30am at YMCA The Ridge
  • Zumba Gold Acacia Ridge classes started in October 2021 with the last class held on Saturday 10 June 2023.
  • From July 2023, Acacia Ridge participants are welcome to join the new Sunnybank class with Olga on Wednesdays 5:30pm at the Sunnybank Community Centre. Or join one of Olga's virtual classes here. Or search for other Active & Healthy activities here.

• INALA - Tuesdays 10:00am at Old Inala Hall
  • We've been grooving for over five years at Old Inala Hall (since March 2017).
  • Our final Zumba Gold Inala class was on Tuesday 6 June 2023.
  • From July 2023, Inala participants are welcome to join the Richlands class (Tuesdays 11:30am at CJ Greenfield Hall with the new instructor) and/or my new Sunnybank class (Wednesdays 5:30pm at Sunnybank Community Centre). • BELLBOWRIE - Wednesdays 4:00pm/5:00pm at Booker Place Park
  • We started grooving by the river in January 2019, and our final Zumba Gold Bellbowrie class was on Wednesday 7 June 2023. 
  • I have chosen not to continue the Bellbowrie class due to the amount of travel required. Unfortunately, a replacement instructor has not been sourced for this class. 
  • From July 2023, Bellbowrie participants are welcome to join one of my virtual classes here. Or search for other Active & Healthy activities here.

 

• PADDINGTON - Fridays 1:30pm at BrisWest Centre
  • Brisbane City Council did not offer to extend the Zumba Gold Paddington for 2023/2024. And I currently do not have the capacity to run this class on a user-pays basis.
  • Zumba Gold Paddington classes have been discontinued effective immediately.
  • Paddington participants are welcome to join one of my virtual classes here. Or search for other Active & Healthy activities here
