- In this video, the Open Out Step is referred to as "Halfswing" or "Cumbia Step".
- In class, we started the Open Out Step in Closed Dance Frame (ie leaders keep their right hands on the follower's back) then we shifted to Hand-to-Hand position.

Bachata Video 1: Bachata Basic Step
Bachata Video 2: Bachata Turn of Follower
- This video refers to this move as Outside Turn of the Follower and does the move from a Two-Handed Hold. In class, we did the turn from a Closed Dance Frame. You can do the turn in either a Two-Handed Hold or a Closed Dance Frame position.
Bachata Video 3: How to do the Turn Pattern Footwork (for both Leaders and Followers)
- This video shows both the Right and Left Turns.
- Leaders, you'll be turning too!
Bachata Video 4: Leader's Turn No 1 UNDERARM Turn with OUTSIDE Hand
- There are HEAPS of leader turn variations!
- The video below shows a turn of the follower than a turn of the leader using the left hand, which is different to what we did in class. In class, the leader changed to his right hand then did an underarm turn.
Bachata Video 5: Leader's Turn No 2 UNDERARM Turn with INSIDE Hand
- This video shows the man's turn to the LEFT with his LEFT hand.
- In class, we did the man's turn to the RIGHT with his RIGHT hand.
Bachata Video 6: Leader's Turn No 3 OVERARM Turn
- Refer to the video from 0:53 where it shows the leader's overarm turn to the left and to the right.
Bachata Video 7 - Leader Turn No 4 Change Hands Behind the Back Leader Turn
Bachata Video 8: Flick Turns (ie both Leader and Follower turn at the same time)
- This video is quite sterile but shows the flick turns (called Rollaways in this video) both ways.
- In class, I gave you a more distinct lead, ie for the leader to put his outside hand out to the side to create more of a lead-up to the "flick".
Bachata Video 9: Cuddle (In and Out Version)
- Refer to this video to see how to enter and exit the Cuddle position.
Bachata Video 10: Cuddle with Walk and Kick
- Leader raises Right arm up on "8" of previous step
- Cuddle Follower to Leader's Left / Follower's Right on 1-2-3-4
- Leader straightens Right Arm to Lead Follower into Walk on 5-6-7-8 (on 8, you can do Pony, Kick, Hip Lift or simple Tap)
- Then walk back with tap on 1-2-3-4/tap (remember: tap in front)
- Repeat, then to exit, Leader lifts Right Arm up on "4/tap", then unwinds Follower (Follower does turn footwork to Left; Leader does Cross Behind Footwork to his Right)
- IMPORTANT: Both videos show this move in the OPPOSITE direction (ie the Leader Cuddles the Follower to Leader's Right / Follower's Left on 5-6-7-8). The concepts are the same, we just did it on the other side.
- In Bachata, generally speaking, most of the moves can be done on either side (ie either travelling to the Leader's Left OR the Leader's Right).
Bachata 11: Cross Hand Turn and Man Loop
- 1 Basic in Cross Hand Hold (right hands on top)
- Both hands up on "8" of Basic as lead
- Turn Follower with Both Hands to the Left (her Right)
- Leader keeps Left Arm Up and Right Arm is Down (in between you and your follower)
- Leader then Loops himself with his Left Hand then goes into Closed Frame
- No video, sorry!
Bachata 12: Crossed Hand Matador
