How to Choose the Right Fitness Class In and Around Wynnum
Whether you're looking to get fitter, improve your balance, build strength, meet new people or simply enjoy moving again, there are plenty of wonderful exercise classes in and around Wynnum, Manly and the Bayside.
The great news? There really isn't a "best" class.
The best class is the one you'll genuinely look forward to attending week after week.
Every instructor has a different style. Every group has its own personality. Even two classes teaching the same type of exercise can feel completely different.
That's why I always encourage people to try a few different classes until they find the one that feels like home.
This guide will help you understand the different options available and hopefully make choosing your next class a little easier.

Not Sure What to Choose?
There's no rule that says you have to get it right the first time.
Try a yoga class.
Try Tai Chi.
Try Zumba Gold.
Try Pilates.
Try line dancing.
See how each one makes you feel.
Notice which instructor helps you feel comfortable. Which group makes you smile. Which class leaves you feeling energised instead of exhausted.
The right class isn't necessarily the one everyone else recommends.
It's the one you enjoy enough to keep coming back to.
And if you try my classes and discover they're not the right fit for you, that's completely okay too. My goal is simply to help more people discover the joy and benefits of moving their bodies in a way they enjoy. You can browse my class timetable.

Looking for Gentle Movement?
|
These classes focus on improving flexibility, mobility, posture and balance while placing less stress on the joints.
You might enjoy:
These are wonderful options if you're returning to exercise, recovering from injury, or simply prefer slower, mindful movement. If you're looking for gentle movement with a little more energy, music and laughter, you might also enjoy my Zumba Gold classes in Wynnum. |
Looking to Build Strength?
|
Strength training becomes increasingly important as we get older. It helps maintain muscle mass, supports healthy bones, improves balance and makes everyday activities easier.
You might enjoy:
My Zumba Gold classes also include toning exercises using light hand weights, helping improve functional strength while keeping the class fun and enjoyable. If you'd like to explore more strength, my livestream Zumba + Lift classes are a great combination of fun dance cardio with simple strength training exercises. |
Love Music? Prefer Exercise That Doesn't Feel Like Exercise?
|
If traditional gyms don't appeal to you, moving to music can be a fantastic way to stay active.
Options include:
Many people tell me they forget they're exercising because they're too busy enjoying the music. If you enjoy singing along, smiling, laughing and leaving class feeling happier than when you arrived, music-based fitness might be exactly what you're looking for. |
Looking for Friendship and Community?
|
This is something people often don't think about when choosing an exercise class...
...but I think it's one of the most important. Many people initially come looking for exercise. They stay because they find connection. Especially in midlife and beyond, finding opportunities to meet new people, laugh together and build genuine friendships can be just as valuable as the exercise itself. At BoogieCamp, many of our members stay for coffee after class, encourage one another and genuinely care about each other. For many people, that sense of belonging becomes just as important as the workout itself. You can learn more about my approach to teaching and building community. |
Prefer Exercising Outdoors?
|
The Bayside is a beautiful place to be active.
Many local classes take place in parks and open spaces, allowing you to enjoy fresh air while exercising. Popular outdoor locations include:
If you enjoy being outdoors, there are plenty of excellent options available. |

Why You Might Enjoy BoogieCamp
|
Of course I'm a little biased...
...but here's what makes my classes a little different.
Most importantly... I want people to leave class feeling happier than when they arrived. If that sounds like the kind of fitness experience you're looking for, I'd love to welcome you. |

A personal note from Olga
If you've been thinking about becoming more active, I hope this guide has helped.
Starting something new can feel daunting, especially if it's been a while since you've exercised.
Please don't worry about being "fit enough" or "coordinated enough." Every single person who now looks confident in a class was once attending for the very first time too.
Whether you choose one of my classes or another wonderful local activity, I'm simply cheering you on for taking that first step. Your future self will thank you for it.
And if you do decide to come along to BoogieCamp, I'll make sure you're welcomed with a smile.

I highly recommend Olga’s Zumba Gold classes—they support both my physical and mental well-being in a way that feels joyful, sustainable, and community-oriented.
