I love BoogieFit because you don't feel intimidated by other students and the Instructor. It is a really welcoming, fun activity and I am learning some great dance steps in the bargain. BoogieFit is my favourite hour of the week.

Saying Goodbye to BoogieFit
Tuesday 8 December 2020
Let's celebrate BoogieFit Solo Latin Dance!
When I first started my business, BoogieCamp, in September 2008, the only thing I offered was Street Latin Dance for Beginner classes - ie partner dancing classes where participants swapped partners. I started off in a carpeted yoga studio in Paddington, where classes were aptly called "Barefoot Boogie" although carpet burn was unfortunately common with Salsa turns! Then I moved to a wooden-floored hall in Bardon (and we put our shoes back on). In April 2010, I started teaching Latin dance classes at Kenmore State School as part of the Kenmore Community Education program.
After a group of teachers at a northside school wanted to learn Latin dancing steps as individuals, I had to create a solo Latin dance class and BoogieFit was born (although it was referred to as "Dance For Fitness"). BoogieFit got people grooving at Kenmore State School (February 2011), Pine Rivers High School (May 2011) and Stafford Heights State School (May 2011).
Over the years, it became clear that the beginner/newbie dancers wanted something different to the more experienced dancers. There was an attempt to separate dancers into two levels - beginners and intermediate. In 2016, I had the idea to create two different classes: (a) BoogieFit Latin Fitness (ie: basic Latin dance moves in a fitness format) and (b) Solo Latin Dance (ie learning Latin dance moves and choreography rather than focusing on the fitness aspect). Solo Latin Dance workshops were also offered from 2016.
Unfortunately, getting enough numbers into the separate classes didn't work and the classes got merged into BoogieFit Solo Latin Dance.
After having to cancel the BoogieFit classes in term 4 this year, I conducted a review of the class numbers and profitability of BoogieFit Solo Latin Dance since the beginning of 2019. I discovered that the average classes numbers (even pre-COVID) are not sufficient to continue the class.
I'm sorry to say that BoogieFit Solo Latin Dance will be discontinued, effective immediately.
For those of you who have attended BoogieFit, especially those of you who have been regulars for a number of years, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting me and my small business. It's been a pleasure sharing my love of Latin dance with you all. Over the years, we have explored a wide variety of Latin dance styles in BoogieFit - Bachata, Bolero, Bossa Nova, Cha Cha, Forro, Merengue, Rumba, Salsa, Tango and Zouk. I hope I've been able to provide you with some great experiences and memories through solo Latin dance!
Remember, you can still access BoogieFit/Solo Latin Dance tracks at any time on my YouTube channel here.
Moving forward, my focus in 2021 will be on Zumba Gold Fitness and Zumba Gold Toning classes.
Once again, thank you to those who have attended a solo Latin dance class (in whatever format it was for you at the time). Thank you for your support and for your trust in me as a dance teacher.
Cheers,
Olga

Olga is a fantastic instructor and it doesn’t take long to get into the swing of things. [I] always leave with a smile and moving nice and free.
