I didn't know about sleep inertia; did you?
I'm listening to Mel Robbins' book "The 5 Second Rule" on Audible. Mel mentions the concept of sleep inertia - and it blew my mind!
In essence, we sleep in 90 to 110 minute cycles, then about two hours before we wake up, our bodies start taking us out of this sleep cycle process in preparation for waking up.
The problem is that when we hit snooze, we are essentially telling our body to go back into a sleep cycle. This is why we feel groggy (for up to FOUR HOURS) after eventually getting out of bed after hitting snooze.
I found a video by Mel on YouTube which explains this: GO HERE
