12 more sleeps until Easter!
And I'm sure the hot cross buns have been out since January. I wonder how many different variations there are this year - fruit, no fruit, gluten free, chocolate, etc. Fun fact - National Hot Cross Buns Day is 11 September (because that makes perfect sense - not!). As of 29 May 2023, we only have TWO more weeks of Council-funded Zumba Gold Fitness classes for this financial year.
Final Active & Healthy classes will be held from Tuesday 6 June to Saturday 10 June. PLUS that week is also my 50th birthday!! So, it's going to be a HUGE week! We'll be having CATCH-UPS for each class (see below) as well as saying FAREWELL to a number of classes *sad face*. As per my previous email (read here), I will not be continuing classes at Acacia Ridge, Bellbowrie, Inala and Richlands. However, I have been advised by Brisbane City Council that the Richlands class is being taken over by another Zumba Gold instructor, Jessie, who some of you already know and love. UPDATE FROM OLGA: There are some CHANGES to my Active and Healthy class schedule for the NEXT financial year (July 2023 to June 2024).
As many of you know, I have sustained knee (and shoulder) injuries. The number of Zumba Gold classes I'm currently doing is putting too much load on my body. After speaking with my coach and my physio, I have chosen to cut back on my Active and Healthy classes for the 2023/2024 financial year. As a dance instructor, I'm a obviously a massive fan of dancing.
I dance because I love music and I enjoy moving my body to music. I love the freedom and the self-expression - I'll frequently be joyfully dancing around my kitchen and living room to a song on the radio! It's a great opportunity to play and stop being so serious. After I dance, I feel energised, and I'm always in a good mood, no matter what kind of day I had! I find dancing is a fantastic stress-reliever for me as well. This blog post was inspired by an article I came across "Why Dance for Fitness: Here are 9 Reasons". Why do you dance? Post your comment below! ![]() If you and your partner done any dancing together, you may be apprehensive about getting lessons for your wedding dance. You may even find the prospect of signing up to a term of dance classes or booking into an expensive package of private lessons a little daunting. Our Couples Dance Nights could be the ideal solution for you. You and your partner can get a taste of learning to dance together, without making a massive commitment, as you only need to book into one dance night at a time.
What's the difference between BoogieFit and Zumba?
There are two major differences between BoogieFit Solo Latin Dance and Zumba Fitness classes. One of the big differences is that Zumba classes are available worldwide; Zumba Certified Instructors receive Zumba music and choreography for use in the classes. BoogieFit is only offered by BoogieCamp in Brisbane - and thus BoogieFit is unique in its music selection and choreography. All choreography taught in BoogieFit is created by BoogieCamp's owner, Olga Gjokmarkovic (that's me!). You won't find choreography in BoogieFit anywhere else! Zumba Gold is a fun, simple and low impact fitness class. Add some spice to your evenings this winter as we'll be adding more Indian tracks in the Zumba Gold classes, including Bollywood.
Did You Know? The term Bollywood was coined in the 1970s by combining two names, Bombay (now called Mumbai) and Hollywood. It is India’s, and the world’s, largest film industry in terms of the number of films produced, and number of tickets sold each year! For more info about Zumba Gold fitness classes, click here. BoogieFit Solo Latin Dance is "hans"-down the best solo Latin dance class in Brisbane. Okay, I just made that up - and - I am awesome at puns (or perhaps not)! Anyways... BoogieFit is back with new Latin dance choreographies to Latin and non-Latin music tracks. So, get ready to shake your light sabre to Salsa and more!
